The Juilliard School Feature - John Weaver's 'Pastorale' for Flute and Organ
Organist Eddie Zheng and flutist Audrey Emata—both third-years—played John Weaver's Pastorale for Flute and Organ last week at an organ recital, part of the Wednesdays at One series. John Weaver (1937-2021) was chair of Juilliard’s organ department from 1987 to 2004. Eddie said, "It’s always a great experience to play chamber music that involves the organ. Thankfully, there’s a lot! To me, Weaver’s compositions combine a wonderful sense of mysticism with contemporary American influences. Performing this piece came with the task of pairing the variety of colors from the organ with the expressive sound of the flute."
